Easy and efficient techniques to shape those who strive for beauty
Through the years, the cult for the body has won many fans. The current medical improvements can satisfy those who want to look slimmer, take care of wrinkles, shape their face or increase the size of some body parts.
Methods, treatment or surgery can shape the body. What was before a privilege of those who had more is now a fancy for youngsters and adults from any social status.
One of the most common surgeries is breast implant. In the 1950s and 1960s the silicone appeared and at that time it had similar complications as paraffin.
It was used as a liquid for filling injections. In 1962 the first silicone prosthesis was made (made of saline solution and a capsule wrapped in silicone).
In the 1980s, the materials were improved and now silicone implants are highly cohesive (cannot be burst and are easier to handle).
“It has been shown that implants do not cause cancer or autoimmune diseases (rheumatism), nor do they interfere with breastfeeding. Incisions can be made in the armpit, under the breast or around the areola (the most common one)”, explained Alberto Argüello, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Clínica Bíblica Hospital.
More muscles. The physician pointed out that now we can find pectorals and calf implants, as well as some for the buttocks.
Prosthesis is of the same material than the ones used in breasts. Dr. Arguello added that buttocks augmentation with fat injections is also a common procedure. This technique uses fat cells from the patient’s body.
Young faces. Injections are in vogue for those who strive for perfect beauty. The so-called filling materials aim at increasing the volume of lips and to fill wrinkles and skin depressions.
One of the most common ones is Restylane. Its function is to give volume to those areas where the organism’s hialuronic acid has been lost. It does not need any previous test. Injections are then applied in small quantities directly in the dermis.
Now, an overweight person (someone who has big fat deposits in the whole body) and who has a bariatric surgery (or gastric by pass) will later need post-bariatric plastic surgery as the final touch for their new body.
Liposuction is one of the most common techniques. Men and women want their fat to be extracted in a procedure that lasts from one to two hours. The innovation here is the move from the dry technique to the so-called tumescent one. With this technique there is less risk of breaking sensitive endings, blood vessels or tissue.
